The new Qld Building Fire Safety Regulation 2008 is now in effect. There are changes from the old regulation which will affect all commercial buildings. This new regulation has provided more specific guidelines for Evacuation Plans, Building Evacuation Arrangements, Evacuation Procedures, Evacuation Instructions, Practice Evacuations, Door Locking policy, Approval Documents, Occupancy Limits for Buildings, Critical Defects, Maintenance of Fire Safety Installations and the creation of a new role, the Fire Safety Advisor. This new role is compulsory for certain building types and requires a person with specific Workplace Emergency Response Qualifications.
